CMS = Content Management System Basics
AND....I bet you have used one and didn't even know it!
If you ever sold anything on Ebay, or created a MySpace or FaceBook page, created a Blogger or WordPress blog - you used a CMS!.
Sometimes referred to as administration area, etc. The online forms, buttons, etc. that allow you to add content, images, video and do some minor customization without EVER working on web code is a CMS.

I often recommend this ONE book to all my clients, potential clients, fellow designers and developers (and though I own tons of great reference books, I am not one for spending time reading them cover-to-cover.) Writing Copy for your Web Site:
What a web visitor is willing and easily able to read on a printed piece of paper is quite different from what is easily read on a computer screen. Not only because screen resolution is 1/4 that of the printed page, but because all everything you see on a screen is generated by light, which is harder to look at than ink on paper. Studies have proven that people generally read slower and less of the content of a web page.*
