I actually have encouraged my dog, Matty (like Uncle Matty the dog trainer) to bite the cats....they treat him like, well, a dog. And it so apparent that he just tolerates them. But he would not bite them if his life depended on it (lucky for them...they are brats!).

The cats eat his food, sleep in his bed (crowding him out to the hardwood floors), sit and sleep on top him. Matty epitomizes the true definition of of "Pussy Whipped"...as in Pussy CAT Whipped!!! And sadly I am also quite whipped by them.

Matty was rescued from the San Fernando Valley Pound...and the photo below was taken about 5 years ago...he is now about 13 and a bit grayer now. Who in the world would ever let a dog like this become a stray? Well, their loss is/has been my gain.
