So, I am not sure what is more amazing: that Shatner is completely serious? That ANYONE took him serious? Or that he actually did a whole album of music, the Beatles song, Lucy in the Sky. This is a classic. I would love to know what Bernie Taupin (who introduces Shatner here) thought of this "interpretation". Though it was the 70's and taste was in short supply in general

This is way too good to leave off my blog. So what do you think is scarier: Leonard Nimoy smiling? The weird dance/choreography? The rubber, pointed ears that everyone wears for no good reason, or that this song is about a character from The Hobbit (The Ballad of Bilbo Baggins)? No, Leonard Nimoy's singing is not even close to being the most frightening thing about this.
Unfortnately the quality of any clips I found were terrible, but worth watching anyway:

I had to continue to torture you. Who in the world thought that it was a good idea for Shatner to do dramatic readings of popular songs? More like Melodramatic readings. So incredibly bad they are good.
Ladies and Gentlemen, from 1969, I give you Mr. William Shatner and his 'version' of "It was a Very Good Year" (no idea why he seems to be dressed like Captain Kirk...this was on the Mike Dougls Show, a daytime talk show in the 60's and 70's).
